How pricing works

You're paying for guidance, not a stopwatch.

Hourly billing rewards slow work and quietly punishes you for asking questions. Flat, up‑front fees do the opposite.

Flat fees, quoted up front

Before any work begins, you get a written fee in writing. No hourly meters and no surprise invoices — if a quick call helps you decide, that's the point.

Priced on value, not hours

What matters is that your return is right, the strategy is sound, and you have someone responsive to call. The fee reflects the outcome — not a stopwatch.

Stable, year after year

Pricing only changes when your situation meaningfully changes — a new entity, a major life event, multi‑state move. Otherwise, what you pay this year is what you pay next year.

One firm, one invoice

Personal returns, business returns, multi‑state work, and IRS matters — all under one roof and one engagement. Nothing pieced together across providers.

Common questions

A few things people usually ask.

What if my situation changes mid‑year?+
If something meaningful happens — a new entity, a move across state lines, an IRS notice, or a significant life event — we'll re‑quote before any additional work. Small questions and check‑ins are always included.
Do you charge for phone calls and emails?+
No. The flat fee covers all the regular back‑and‑forth. The whole point is that you don't hesitate to reach out before making a decision.
Do I need to be in New York to work with you?+
Not at all. We're based in Bedford Hills and Midtown Manhattan and meet clients in person at both offices — but most of our work is done through a secure portal, so clients in any state work with us comfortably.
What about prior‑year or amended returns?+
Quoted separately, but quoted up front. If reviewing your last two returns turns up missed planning, we'll tell you what amending would cost and what you'd likely recover.
How are fees billed?+
For individual and business engagements: a fee is quoted up front and billed at engagement. For IRS representation: typically a retainer plus a defined scope, agreed in writing before any work begins.
Is there a minimum engagement?+
Novell is built around long‑term relationships. We're not the right fit for one‑off lowest‑price filings — but there's no multi‑year contract either. We earn your business every year.
